The 2012 AMTA Pa Chapter Conference and Annual Meeting .....

Below is a list of the bios for the educators at the 2012 conference.

Patricia Mayrhofer

Patricia Mayrhofer, CMT, founder and President of Nature’s Stones Inc., is a cosmetologist; massage therapist and instructor since 1995, incorporating healing stones into multi-disciplinary approaches of client treatment.  She has assembled an experienced network of professionals developing and teaching multiple healing stone therapies in massage and spa treatments, both nationally and internationally.

Along with the administration of her company Pat believes in the hands on approach to business.  She is involved in teaching, community outreach for the promotion of stone massage and maintains a massage therapy practice.  Pat holds a patent on the Nexauna, (hot stone drape), and has created a full line of unique textile products that promotes the safety of hot stone massage.  Pat has produced five educational videos on various protocols with hot and cold stones.  She has also been instrumental in the development of a massage stone heater.

Pat has served as an adviser on the board of the Lehigh Valley College massage therapy program, as a technical advisor for the Pennsylvania Licensing Coalition Committee, the Metal Ware Corporation (Spa~Pro), as well as several other companies in the massage therapy industry.  She spoke at the International Congress of Esthetics in Philadelphia in March 2006 and again for ICE in Dallas in March 2007.  Pat has either collaborated or written several articles for Massage Magazine and Massage and Bodywork magazine.

 

 

Karin Hampton

Advanced Education Systems was co-founded in 2007 by Karin Hampton, LMT and Susan Hanna, LMT/Aesthetician in order to facilitate high quality continuing education for the professional massage therapist.  As an NCBTMB approved provider, Advanced Education has a multitude of courses available to broaden and enhance the professional massage therapist’s knowledge and practice.  Both Karin and Susan have their individual talents and experience that enrich each course and how its presentation.

Karin attended The Southeastern School of Neuromuscular Massage Therapy in Charlotte, North Carolina, there she studied Swedish and Neuromuscular Massage Therapy with minor studies in reflexology, hot stone, prenatal and hydrotherapies. After achieving her certificate, she continued her education by studying modalities such as Cranio-Sacral, Reiki and Oncology therapies, just to name a few.

Karin and Susan met while working as instructors at the National Massage Therapy Institute in Wilmington, Delaware, they instructed many different aspects of the massage field, including anatomy, physiology, kinesiology, theory and techniques. During their time at the National Massage Therapy Institute it became apparent that local, quality continuing education was needed for the Pennsylvania, Delaware, New Jersey, and Maryland regions. Currently, Advanced Education Systems offer courses ranging from core to elective nationwide, include several home-study courses for the massage professional. 

Advanced Education System continues to create and implement quality CE courses for the professionals’ educational growth.  Our Mu-Xing Therapy series is designed to enhance your clients’ session as well as save therapist hands. 

 

 

Lin Roussel

Hi! I'm Lin Roussel, owner of Integrative Touch for Health & Wellness.  I'm an approved provider of continuing education for massage therapists for NCBTMB, PA Licensing Board, AMTA & ABMP.   I am also a Nurse, a PA  licensed, Nationally Certified Massage Therapist, an AHA Certified CPR Instructor, and an Infant Massage Therapy Instructor.                      

I am a member of the American Massage Therapy Association, the National Assoc. of Nurse Massage Therapists, the Nurse Healers Assoc., and am CPR certified.  I have been a Nurse-Massage Therapist for 7 years.  I serve on the Advisory Board for Lancaster School of Cosmetology & Therapeutic Bodywork, work part-time as a Massage Therapist for Compassionate Care Hospice, and for BaxPlus Chiropractic.  My specialty is Cranial-Sacral Therapy, and am continuously amazed by the results it brings.

As an approved provider of continuing education for massage therapists in PA, I offer a variety of classes each month at a healthcare facility in Lancaster County, local massage therapy schools, and, at salons, spas, clinics and other businesses that employ massage therapists.

As an experienced nurse-massage therapist, I am happy to offer free mentoring services to massage therapists just starting out in the field, or those who have been away from practicing, and are thinking about re-starting their massage therapy career.  I am an appoved mentor for the AMTA.  Please contact me if you are interested in this service.

Volunteering, and helping those in need is very important to me, and I use my gift of touch to offer free massage to Veterans, individuals experiencing homelessness, volunteering for the AMTA, being a member of the Lititz Women of Today, and for many other causes that speak to me. 

I truly love being a massage therapist, and am passionate about the amazing benefits that massage therapy can offer.  As a Massage Therapy instructor for continuing education, I have spent many years creating interesting and thought-provoking classes and most importantly, learning from and being inspired by the many amazing Massage Therapists that take my classes!

 

Susan Walsh

M. Susan Walsh is a graduate of the Piedmont School of Professional Massage in Woodbridge, Virginia. She has been in private practice in Northern Virginia since 1998. Susan graduated from the Academy of Lymphatic Studies, Fort Lauderdale, Florida and she is a certified Manual Lymph Drainage Therapist. She studied Reflexology with Claire Marie Miller of Chapel Hill, North Carolina and Ashiatsu Oriental Bar Therapy with Ruthie Piper Hardee of Denver, Colorado. Susan studied Aviana® (Mindful) Touch Therapy with Nancy E. Schmitt at the Aviana Retreat Center in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Susan studied Indian Champissage™ with Narendra Mehta in Chicago, Illinois and she earned her diploma as a certified practitioner at the London Centre of Indian Champissage Internationale in England. Susan is also a Second Degree Reiki practitioner.

 

Cheryl  Chapman

Cheryl Chapman is a pioneer in massage for Cancer and Mastectomy. An RN since 1965, certified in massage in 1988, she combined her extensive nursing experience of 23 years as an Oncology nurse, Hospice, HIV/AIDS, Cardiac and PostPartum nurse with her wide-ranging knowledge of massage and she produced a comprehensive hands-on training program. Cheryl studied Chinese medicine & massage in NY and China. In 1999 Cheryl became Holistic Nurse Certified (HNC), which further enriched her program. Director of Professional Massage Therapy Associates, specializing in massage for Cancer, Mastectomy, Breast surgeries, Cardio, Hospice, Pre/Post Natal, Infant and Baby instruction, Geriatrics and Relaxation Massage. After completing massage school, Cheryl saw a need for continuing education for Cancer training. In 1990 she taught her first class and has expanded her education program since then.

Approved as a continuing education provider by the National Certified Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork since 1992, Cheryl began teaching continuing education classes at national conferences, conventions and massage schools throughout the US in 1990. She also consults with massage schools, organizations and spas.

Cheryl is a Professional trainer to destination and day Spas throughout the country.  Elizabeth Arden was the first to offer specialized Spa services to women with cancer, mastectomy and breast surgeries. Since then spas have begun to add a special program for people living with cancer.

Cheryl is a breast health advocate & teacher & lectures on breast health nationally. She is the author of "THE HAPPY BREAST  BOOK" and the creator of "PHLUFF THE GIRLS" for good breast health.
