Frank Denig Unit Chair discussing his experience at the AMTA Pa Chapter annual conference in July with fellow AMTA Pa members that attended the Northeast unit meeting October 3, 2009.

Saturday, October 3, 2009.......Meeting results!!!

On Saturday, October 3rd the newly reformed Northeast PA unit of the AMTA held their first fall meeting.  The meeting took place at the McCann School of Business in Scranton.  An accountant was scheduled to speak at the meeting about independent contracting, tax write-offs, the financial aspects of business ownership, and similar topics.  Unfortunately, the speaker was unable to attend due to an emergency.  In lieu of this absence, a business meeting was held with additional discussion. Topics at the fall meeting included licensing, criteria for being “grandfathered” in, the benefits of being an AMTA member, and ideas for the upcoming spring meeting which is scheduled to take place some time shortly before or after Easter. The officers also enthusiastically shared their experiences at the AMTA annual conference in July 2009, and they informed the attendees of the upcoming conference in spring.  Those present at the fall meeting interacted with each other and shared their personal experiences in practice.  With a range of people from instructors to students, the discussions and suggestions for upcoming meetings were both beneficial and multifaceted.  The fall meeting was a success, and the upcoming spring meeting is eagerly anticipated!
