Results of the Meeting on November 1, 2009

Twenty-three members attended the Fall meeting for the SouthEast PA unit of the AMTA, gathering at the Wellness Center in Newtown Square PA on Sunday November 1, 2009.  Our new volunteers, Chrissy Oberholtzer and Albert Heefner took oaths of commitment as Unit Officers and then we discussed the main question on most everyone's mind... Licensing.  How do we prepare for it? Joanne Mengel stepped to the plate to deliver the update and address any questions.  Many valid concerns were brought up and we ended with how important it was to support each other as Massage Therapists.   Members were directed to the AMTAPA.ORG website to check on the status in the future. We then discussed the upcoming National Convention in 2010.  Present members gave testimonies that friends were made and kept around the country from past conventions, a great place to grows as a MT.  After a quick brainstorming session about what members would like to see at other meetings, we adjourned.  Everyone then had an opportunity to casually talk amongst themselves to share the stories of their businesses, schooling and lives.   A CPR certification class followed the meeting.  Overall, this was a very informative meeting for the members and the Unit Officers as we move toward our goal of uniting Massage Therapists and serving the AMTA members efficiently.
